Performance and Artist’s Talk at 6pm

Detroit-based artist Brian Hutsebout uses sculpture, sound, image, and performance to explore cultural and ancestral legacy and responsibility. In this recent body of work, the artist incorporates objects, stories, and locations charged with family significance in order to, in his words, “recall and preserve memory to understand my identity.” Hutsebout’s sculptures, installations, and performative acts present cultural and familial lineage not as a fixed narrative but as an ongoing, embodied condition.
