Our students have demonstrated exceptional effort, dedication, and thoughtfulness in their work and artistic practice. We take great pride in showcasing their achievements and highlighting the talent of our students and faculty here at SBMA. In honoring these achievements, we were excited to have guest juror John Thomson, Senior Lecturer of Fine Arts at Indiana University South Bend.
John Thomson Juror Statement:
Thank you all for sharing your art with me. I am very impressed with the variety of work, the technical skill, and the overall level of talent I saw with everyone’s work. It is hard to decide on what to choose because of the different mediums, subject matter, and presentation but, if I could give you all an award, I would do so as everyone’s work was very impressive. Since I can only choose a few people to give awards to I chose the people I did based on three categories:
- Technical prowess
- Composition
- Uniqueness of subject or that it is presented in such a way as it gives the viewer a new perspective on the subject matter. Thank you all again for sharing your work with me and I encourage all of you to keep bringing beauty into this world with your work.Best of Show Award:
