Beyond Looking: An Exhibition Highlighting the Voices of Young Artists from the South Bend Community School Corporation

The South Bend Museum of Art’s Education department presents Beyond Looking, an exhibition highlighting the creative voices of our young community of artists from the South Bend Community School District, specifically K-6 graders. Partnering with K-6 art teachers, we asked their students to create a visual response to the question “How Will You Change the World?” –– a question asked in the midst of a global pandemic while most students were learning from home. Beyond Looking invites you to peek through a portal revealing Generation Alpha’s vision of how they see themselves impacting the world and what they see that needs to change.

We are thrilled to have worked with the art teachers and art administration from the South Bend Community School Corporation on this very special exhibition. The Beyond Looking Exhibition will be on display in The Wiekamp Gallery at the South Bend Museum of Art from September 4, 2021 – January 8, 2022. The opening reception will take place during our First Friday celebration on September 3 from 5- 8PM.
