Docent-led tours of our galleries are available year-round for schools, community groups, as well as private parties for friends and family! For docent-led tour requests, please reach out at least 3 weeks in advance.

Guided Group Tours: Enjoy a tour of any combination of galleries led by one of our incredible docents. Your tour will include background information about selected artists and artworks and include discussions between our exhibitions and everyday life. Length of tours vary, depending on your group’s needs, but generally last for 30-60 minutes. Ask us about pairing your tour with a private art activity uniquely designed for your group for an additional fee. To request a group tour, please reach out to Casey Smallwood, Director of Innovation, Education, and Programming

Self-Guided Tours: Individuals and small groups may prefer touring the galleries on their own, but would like some suggestions, activities, or materials to help inform their visit. Stop by and see one of our gallery monitors to find out more about our self-guided gallery activities and information about the exhibitions.

School Tours: Since 1980, our school programs have provided 5th grade students from three school systems the opportunity to visit the SBMA for a docent-led tour and art activity taught in one of our studios. For K-12 school tour requests, please contact Casey Smallwood, Director of Innovation, Education, and Programming at
