Artists of all ages submitted designs in the Spring, painted their banners in the SBMA studios and now the banners are being installed throughout downtown South Bend.

This year, the museum received over 400 entries and selected 80 designs to decorate our city. Each banner represents a unique interpretation of this year’s theme, HOMEgrown. Artists were asked to think about what it means to be locally “grown” and then illustrate it through color, shape, and line. The banner designs are on display from August 4, 2014 through October 17, 2014 and are located on Wayne, Jefferson, and Michigan streets in Downtown South Bend.

This community focused project is brought to you by the South Bend Museum of Art with support from patrons:

Jerry Thoma and Meg Auth
Jack and Yumiko Champaigne

Special thanks to the City of South Bend, Downtown South Bend, Inc., and The Art League for partnering and helping to facilitate this public art project.
