Family Day: Flying Monsters Costume Workshop

Instructor: Humberto Delgado, Assistant Executive Director at La Casa de Amistad
Date & Time: October 13, 2 – 4 p.m.
Ages: All ages

This is the second of four workshops kicking off SBMA’s upcoming American Series exhibition, The Korshak Collection: Illustrations of Imaginative Literature. All four will focus on a different type of science fiction/fantasy costume piece. Come to one or come to all and don’t forget to join us in SBMA‘s Monsters & Mythical Creatures costume parade on November 9th at 4:00 p.m.! More details about the parade here.

This workshop allows students to think creatively while using found and recycled materials to represent an imaginary creature. Students will begin the workshop with sketching their ideas on monsters through various prompts provided by the instructor. These sketches will be used to work as a blueprint for creating kinetic flying monsters that will be left at the museum and used in the parade on November 9. Students will take home their sketches and may return for the parade to collect their flying monsters!

We will also have our studios open for you to make your own costume during this workshop!

*some of the flying monsters may be selected to become a part of the education space at The Korshak Collection: Illustrations of Imaginative Literature exhibition November 1 – January 3.
