Ekphrastic Poetry:

Online Submissions now being accepted!

An ekphrastic poem is a vivid description of a scene or, more commonly, a work of art. Every year the South Bend Museum of Art hosts an event called An Ekphrastic Event for Sharing the Muse. We ask people to write a poem in response to a work of art from SBMA’s permanent collection. The poems are published in a chapbook and the poets read their works on the night of the event which will be September 25, 2020.

We invite you to participate! Write a poem inspired by any of the artworks below. Email it along with your name and the title of the artwork to bowmanb@southbendart.org by June 5, 2020. All poems will be reviewed and selected poets will be notified by June 19, 2020. There is no age limit so get those young writers going too.
