Introduction to Figure Drawing

Introduction to Figure Drawing

Instructor:  Gabe Rauch

Begins January 16, 2021 and meets once a week for 8 weeks.

Saturdays 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

In this 8 week course, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of figure drawing, from learning about and drawing the basic components, or volumes, that make up the figure to delving into the art of making intuitive design decisions on the fly. Students will study how to see and think about the figure, equipping them with a more informed approach and an eye that can communicate well with the hand. Students will be introduced to the Reilly Rhythms of figure drawing, Frank Reilly’s lesser known but incredibly insightful system for mapping the rhythms of the human form and shedding light on how to innovate and infuse drawings with character and voice.
