*New* Figurative Focus: Drawing the Head

Figurative Focus: Drawing the Head

Instructor:  Gabe Rauch

Begins January 16, 2021 and meets once a week for 8 weeks.

6:00 to 9:00 pm

The Figurative Focus: Head Drawing class will hone in on the study of the human head and its accompanying facial features. Through 8 weeks, students will study and integrate four versions of the head, i.e., the Loomis Head, the Skull, the Planar Head, and the Reilly Head. Each version will add to students’ “Visual Vocabulary,” equipping them with different ways to think about the head and with a sharpened, more informed eye with which to analyze a model. Additionally, students will depict the facial features in detail after learning how to break down form using planes, rhythm lines, and light and shadow. Students will draw from a live model on occasion, with opportunities to craft portraits that harmonize what they see, what they know, and what they would like to see.
