Kid Beat 2018

The South Bend Museum of Art is bringing KID BEAT! to a special section of DTSB’s Art Beat! It will be located directly in front of the Century Center at 120 South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., in downtown South Bend.

23 local businesses and non-profits will have youth art, activities, and special kid friendly food!

Pottery Demonstrations (booth 318):

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Betsy Fulnecky, Adult Student
12:00 – 2:00 p.m.: Vanessa Steiner, Artist in Residence
2:00 – 4:00 p.m.: Melvin Dokes, Ceramics Instructor
4:00 – 6:00 p.m.: Hannah Kimbrough, Teen Ceramics Student

Art Demonstrations (booth 316):

12:00 – 2:00 p.m.: Pastels with Cathy McCormick
2:00 – 4:00 p.m.: Watercolor with Howard Scott
4:00 – 6:00 p.m.: Printmaking with Brandi Bowman

Floor Loom Weaving Demonstrations (underneath Century Center Awning)

10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Kristen Elkington

Free Art Activities (located throughout Kid Beat area) from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Include:

  • SBMA Mobile Art Stations – Where children will be able to paint their own masterpieces! This years inspiration is “Out of this WORLD!”, celebrating our current outdoor exhibition The Festival of Banners.
  • Big Bubbles
  • Sidewalk Chalk
  • Bean Bag Toss
  • Artistic Photo Boards – Take a picture of yourself within a famous painting!

SBMA Museum Galleries and Gift Shop will be open to the public as well.  Hours are 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
