Festival of Banners 2010

The South Bend Museum of Art, with support provided by DTSB, Inc and the City of South Bend, presents the Festival of Banners 2010. Initiated four years ago, this public art project organized by the museum brings the local community together to create a cultural experience that celebrates art in the heart of downtown South Bend. Out of 223 design submissions, 80 banners were chosen that best depict the theme of this year's Festival: "happy heART". Artists of all ages spent several days transferring their designs to a 2X4' 2-sided banner. Winning banner awards were announced at a press conference on July 29. 2010. Banners are on display along Michigan St. and Jefferson Blvd. Sponsored by Jerry Thoma and Meg Auth, United Art & Education.
